Hi, I’m Ashleigh James.
I’m an MNCPS (Accred) Person-Centred therapist offering trauma-informed counselling for adults experiencing anxiety, emotional distress, and relationship difficulties. I provide a calm, safe, and confidential space where you can talk openly, feel genuinely heard, and begin to make sense of what you’re going through, at your own pace.
I have extensive experience working with trauma, anxiety, stress, overwhelm, panic, low self-esteem, and relationship issues. I understand the profound and lasting impact trauma can have on emotional wellbeing, relationships, and a sense of self, and my therapeutic work is grounded in empathy, safety, and trust. I’ve worked closely with women who have left abusive relationships, offering sensitive, trauma-informed support during periods of significant change and vulnerability.
I also support parents adjusting to life post-birth, including those raising children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), parents coping with grief after the loss of a child, and those struggling with the emotional and psychological demands of parenthood. My counselling work with parents is rooted in compassion and understanding, ensuring you feel supported rather than judged during deeply vulnerable times.
Alongside this, I have significant experience supporting neurodivergent clients, particularly those with Autism and ADHD. I tailor therapy to your individual needs, creating a space where you can feel understood, respected, and empowered, without pressure to mask or fit a particular mould.
I’m currently completing a master's degree in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy, which deepens my work with intimacy and sexual difficulties, including sexual trauma, sexual anxiety, low sexual desire, and the emotional impact these concerns can have on relationships and self-worth. My approach is gentle, grounded, and trauma-informed, supporting you to feel safer in your body, regulate anxiety, heal from painful experiences, and reconnect with emotional wellbeing.
If you’re seeking counselling or feeling overwhelmed, I offer a compassionate space to support healing, self-awareness, and reconnection with yourself.

Therapy with Ashleigh:
Therapy with me is collaborative and moves at a pace that feels safe for you.
There is no pressure to share more than you feel ready for, and you remain in control of what we explore as we work towards deeper understanding and meaningful change.
Individual sessions are £50 for 50 minutes and can be booked as needed, with no requirement to commit to a block.
Sessions may be weekly, fortnightly, or monthly depending on what feels most supportive, and this can be reviewed at any time as your needs evolve.
Therapeutic Approach:
My approach is Person-Centred and trauma-informed, meaning therapy moves at your pace and is shaped around your individual needs. I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all model. Instead, I offer a collaborative space where you remain in control of what we explore, and where emotional safety is prioritised at every step.
I believe meaningful change happens when we feel safe enough to be ourselves, understood without judgement, and supported in reconnecting with our own inner resources.
Choosing a therapist is a deeply personal decision. You may be looking for someone who feels safe, understanding, and genuinely present, someone you can trust with the parts of your life that feel most difficult to share.
Our session’s will be:
-
Personalised
Our early sessions are dedicated to deeply understanding you, your story, your needs, and what you hope for moving forward. From there, I tailor our work together, creating a therapeutic space that supports lasting and meaningful change.
-
Safe
I provide a confidential and compassionate environment where you are free to be yourself without judgement. Together, we create a sense of emotional safety that allows deeper understanding, healing, and growth to unfold.
-
Transformative
No two people are the same, and neither is the therapy I offer. I work collaboratively with you, taking time to understand your world so our sessions feel supportive, relevant, and uniquely tailored to you.
“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”
